The atmosphere was buzzing this evening as 99 players packed the poker room, all in contention for a big score and the year's first Main Event title.

It looked like a tough field with familiar faces floating around. Aussie Millions Main Event final table finishers Lennart Uphoff, James Rann and Anthony Legg were among the action. Team Pokerstars Pro Bryan Huang, Jonathan Karamalikis and Dean Blatt also played the first flight.

Only 54 remained when Day 1a finished up. Notables Daniel Neilson, Edison Nguyen and Adrian Attenborough were some of those who hit the rail.

Players lucky enough to make it through to Day 2 will be able to get some rest tomorrow before joining the qualifiers from tomorrow's Day 1b on Friday.

Raiden Kan managed to sneak through as the chip leader, bagging up 80,450. Kan has already had a fantastic start to the year, with a tenth place finish in the Aussie Millions Main Event for $95,000, and a seventh place finish in the $25,000 Event of the same series, collecting $125,000.

Hot on Kan's heels is the player who is first on Singapore's all-time money list, Bryan Huang. He finished up with 75,450 in chips. Australian Didier Guerin, meanwhile, amassed 68,400. With blinds returning at 400/800/100 they'll have a lot to play with.

Other players to qualify for Day 2 include Tony Tartaglia, Michael Addamo, Jesse 'On The Mac' McKenzie, Iori Yogo and reigning ANZ Player of the Year David Lim. Below is how the top ten stack up.
